The time required to translate your document will depend on several factors, these include: the format of the source file, the total wordcount, the language combination, if pre- or post-processing is necessary, if there are any non-editable images that require localizing, etc. Our project managers conduct a careful analysis of all input data provided, and you can count on them to mobilize the resources required to meet your deadline. Having a second language professional proofread the original translator’s work is a key part of our quality process. The revision stage is a valuable opportunity to check that the translation is accurate, and that the terminology and tone are consistent. The proofreader brings an objective eye to the project and is in a better position to correct any inadvertent typos, grammar errors, or misspellings. We have defined a stringent qualification process in compliance with the ISO 17100 standard. At Raptrad Imagine, the language professionals we work with: • Are fluent in the source language • Are native speakers of the target language • Have demonstrated subject-area expertise • Make a distinction between corrections and preferential changes • Are known for their eagle-eye attention to detail.

The six-eye approach means that every project will involve at least three different people: • A professional translator • A professional proofreader • A dedicated quality control operator. Each individual brings a fresh approach at their respective level of intervention. This means that there is a much greater chance of any abnormalities being detected and corrected upstream in our production process. Translation memory software is a way to capitalize on previous work done by our professional translators. Their translations are effectively stored in the translation memory and will appear if identical or similar content is encountered in future projects. Translation memory technology is a valuable tool for ensuring consistent quality over the years. It also increases the productivity of our teams while optimizing costs for our customers, a win-win situation!

If you have InDesign files that need to be translated into one or more languages, our project managers will ask you for the complete InDesign package, which includes the following items: • IDML file • INDD file • PDF file • Fonts folder • Links folder. Our graphic design team will carefully analyze the InDesign package provided to make sure that all elements align before preparing the IDML file for translation. At Raptrad Imagine, we combine linguistic expertise and DTP skills to deliver turnkey translations with optimal page layout.

If you send us a PDF file for translation, the project manager at Raptrad Imagine will most certainly ask if it would be possible to provide the “native file”. This refers to the source file that was used to generate the PDF. Having access to the original or “native file” is a way to reduce the time required to assess the number of words that need to be translated, without having to resort to a PDF conversion. It also ensures that your translated file will be delivered in the same format as the original file. But rest assured, if you only have the PDF file, our teams have the skills required to handle these too!

At Raptrad Imagine, every new translation request is carefully analyzed to identify any non-editable content (screenshots, images, diagrams, etc.). Our project manager will most certainly get in touch to see how you would like this non-editable content to be handled. Depending on your preference, several options are available: • Leaving the non-editable content as is in the translated file (untranslated) • Adding a bilingual table directly below the image in question (translated but not integrated) • Localizing the non-editable content (translated and integrated with identical page layout). At Raptrad Imagine, our approach to every project is anything but one size fits all, and this extends to non-editable content. We work closely with our customers to find the best solution to meet their needs, budgets, and lead times.

First of all, it’s important to determine the exact level of confidentiality. Are we dealing with sensitive information that is not public knowledge but will be soon, like a press release or in-house communication about a change in company management? Are we referring to content that is confidential for your company in terms of proprietary information or technology? Or is it confidential in terms of national security? The first step is to contact your project manager at Raptrad Imagine, who will be able to help you navigate the different classification levels and select the best way forward. If there is any doubt, our information security officer is on hand to provide further guidance. Your company may have a platform in place for sending sensitive or confidential files, in which case we will make the necessary arrangements to use your dedicated tool. Our project managers can also assist you in using secure ZED containers to facilitate file exchanges. Another possibility involves using our secure digital platform, GateWor(l)ds.
